The riding
Whakarewarewa Forest is Rotorua’s core riding destination, with pedal trails and commercial shuttle options. Skyline is a separate gondola-served bike park.
Skyline Rotorua has announced that its mountain-bike operations will end on 25 March 2027. That announcement applies to Skyline’s MTB park, not Whakarewarewa Forest riding.
The area
Rotorua is the Bay of Plenty base for Whakarewarewa Forest and the separate Skyline park. Choose accommodation around your intended forest access or shuttle pickup, and do not treat the Skyline gondola as the entrance to the forest network.
